“Don’t Let Your History Be A Mystery” tour to Accra, Ghana

The school visits are always the highlight of the tour. There is just something very special about the children and the teachers. The schools function without electricity or running water....imagine that???? It always humbles us when we visit and see such happy, well behaved and eager to learn children. We come bearing school supplies that are always appreciated. Another highlight is the Elmina and Cape Coast Slave castles. The hairs literally stand up on my arms everytime I enter each castle. When we hear of the atrocities inflicted on the Africans it is truly heartwrenching. I have seen people breakdown and cry when the stories are told. It is something that every African American should experience -- to come full circle-- to return to your roots (sankofa) then return to America on your own free will.
