Our Mission, Goals, and Objectives Of The Organization
The mission of Age of Awareness is to broaden the futures of talented African American and African 6th to 12th grade students from families facing economic challenges by providing programs that include academic support, college and career awareness and cultural exchanges.
Age of Awareness, Inc. (AOA) is a non profit 501(c)(3) corporation established to assist gifted and talented, at-risk, low-income African American children and African children. This outreach program is designed to educate students about their ancestral history and to guide them academically, culturally and professionally.
Our main goal is to foster African American leadership and mentors through culture and education. We recognize the value of individual differences and strive for a society that is diverse, highly educated, well rounded, well-traveled, responsible and dedicated. Our participants will be exposed to a wide variety of activities including academic, educational and career programs, cultural exposure and personal development.
In addition, students can share and exchange knowledge and information with the children of Africa via pen pals and email. AOA can provide a constant cultural and educational exchange for the participants, as well as a student exchange, giving an African student an opportunity to come to America to learn and vice versa.
